Event Info: 

Hey LRGC member rifle shooters - 

Time to get those 22 cal rifles out of the safe, dust them off and bring them to the range. 

If you are new to rifle shooting or would just like some assistance in getting your shooting technique squared away - this series of sessions is for you. 

You will need to bring the following: 

1) Your 22 cal rifle (in a case) - any sights will do that you want to shoot with.  Iron or optics are fine. 

2) Ammo appropriate for your rifle - high or standard velocity 22 LR.  Suggest 100 - 150 rounds. 

In the first session (1.0) we tried different ammo types to see which shoots best in your rifle. If you did not attend and/or do this please do so before the next session.  I suggest trying as many types as you can find - you never know which will work best! 

3) Ear protection that doesn't interfere with your rifle stock when you shoot.

4) Clear eye protection that will stay properly on your head while shooting. Anti-fog spray might also help with clarity. 

5) The appropriate tool to adjust your sights.  This will be required to properly sight in your rifle.

6) If you have a spotting scope (or a pair of binoculars) - bring along as they would be quite useful.

Session 1.0 (already past):  a) working on sighting in your rifle, b) testing ammo in your rifle to see what works best, discussing factors affecting accuracy, c) working on proper shooting technique.

Session 2.0: (already past) a) Review of factors affecting accuracy, b) applying these principles in bench-rest shooting, c) working on proper shooting technique, d) defining other proper shooting positions: in this session discussed standing.

Session 3.0: a) Review of factors affecting accuracy,, b) review of standing position and practice, c) discussion of kneeling position. We will be shooting without shooting-aids like slings or shooting jackets.  

Session 4.0: a) Review of factors affecting accuracy,, b) review of kneeling position and practice, c) discussion of prone position. We will be shooting without shooting-aids like slings or shooting jackets.
